Brazil Serie A Football Ratings

These Brazilian Serie A Football Ratings are very kindly produced and compiled by Monty.

A brief explanation on how to interpret the football ratings

The formula used to arrive at these ratings is secret - the ratings formula has allegedly been in Monty's Scottish, Ayrshire family for generations (wink-wink).

But seriously, they are simple enough to use; ¨the difference column¨ on the right-hand side of the image is the key, the figure represents a rating for the home team. If it's a plus (and in blue), the home team  is deemed to have the advantage.

If the difference figure is in red and a minus, the away team holds the advantage.

The table blow is the form for all Brazilian Serie A matches so far this season

Just a couple of points on using football ratings.

When using football ratings it pays to remember they are usually compiled using a formula of some kind. It follows that in all probability historical data is a key element in compilation, this in itself is not problematic, providing the compiler has taken the statistics and applied them in an objective manner - worth bearing in mind though, that past results have possibly no bearing on future results.

The other point to bear in mind is the fact that ratings are based on previous results, albeit recent results, but obviously can't take into account that this weeks game is a big derby match, or team A has 4 key players on the sick-list.

I guess I'm moving towards telling you to use the ratings as a guide, as, at the best of times, football games can be unpredictable affairs, and week in , week out , odd results scupper promising looking wagers.

Keep in mind the following (in a general sense):

  • Brazilian soccer produces a good amount of home wins (compared to other world leagues).
  • Generally speaking, derby games are hard to predict and are best avoided.
  • Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo teams tend to dominate Serie A, (at least , for the most part)
