Gremio Football Team of Porto Alegre

Grêmio Football Porto Alegrense, or Gremio are based in Porto Alegre in South Brazil. They are one of the oldest most established football clubs in Brazil and have won both major domestic and international honours

They have a huge rivalry with another Porto Alegre based side in the shape of, Internacional, derby games between the two sides are quite fierce football spectacles.

Fans of Gremio are called; Gremistas and they still taunt Internacional about their first ever football encounter when they beat them, or more correctly, hammered them 10-0.

They were once managed by Big Phil, or Scolari to most Europeans, who of course went on to be national Brazil coach before moving to Portugal to take on the national Portuguese role in Lisbon.

They play at  Estádio Olímpico Monumental, but there is talk of a new stadium being built in the northern part of the city.

Over the years . Gremio have won seemingly impossible matches and have managed to rescue , on occasions what seem s like a desperate situation , this has led the fan base to iconize the knack by calling themselves, the immortal.Gremio's mascot is a Musketeer adorned in the clubs colours of blue and black,The clubs football wins include;  The Toyota Intercontinental , 2 Libertadores wins, 4 Brazilian Cup wins and once winning the Brazil Super Cup, in addition to 35 State Championships – naturally, to the dismay of State rivals, Internacional.
